Going Big!

One of my most enjoyable time at school is figure drawing class. For our current figure drawing class, we are going big!
No more of that dinky little newsprint size [only for quick gestures]. The point of this session is to familiarize ourself with large scale drawings as well as making interesting yet aggressive experimental markings.

Here was my first day of going big.

Fairly large in comparison of my feet. [although I have small feet]

I had trouble with the anatomy. I can't seem to think of the figure as whole.

My thoughts on this experience? I found it quite fun. The large canvas to work on is quite enjoyable. It is much easier to get unique markings and details. I also love hearing my classmates going crazy on the on their piece. The sound of scratching and boards wobbling.

The downfall is the height of the easel because of having a distorted view on your drawing. Being short can be a disadvantage. However, that's what the chairs in the classroom are for.

Last Day of Reading Week

I failed to complete all of my assignments. I managed to finish my reading homework [ACTUAL READING IN READING WEEK?!] for mythology class, storyboarding, and sketches.

I actually went to school during Reading Week to do some extra life and to finish a couple of assignments.

DEDICATION! [Not, really]

Also, I did some March cleaning and my drafting table is finally clean! [Places gold star on myself] Yes, I have three work tables.

Although I did not get my all of my assignments done, I was pretty darn productive in contrast of my previous years. I'm improving! [Pat on the back.]

Could it be that school is shaping up my bad habits?

Diorama of Doom

Part 2 [or 3] of the Concept Core assignment. We are to take our coloured image and transform them into 3D diorama. Although we had a week to do this, I had other homework and appointments to juggle. I literally took less than a day to work on it.

Originally, I wanted the characters to be sculptures but I realize the time restraint and my lack of skill for sculpting wasn't really going to add any benefit to my diorama. "Cut-outs suspended in thread will do." I said to myself.

Err... beside the fact it was poorly done I really liked the idea of Big Ben lighting up. There was suppose to be a full moon in the backdrop but I didn't have an extra flash light to get the effect for this shot. [too lazy to set it up again] My classmate's dioramas were amazing! Most are fantastic and well made. The details on some were jaw-dropping.

Now, you think this is the last part... NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, think again. There is another part to do. Storyboarding of the goddamn same scene. I'm so sick of this story!! [I'm using the same story for Electronic Media's class too]

For future illustration class, please be prepared. I hope some of these entries will give you some heads up on your next year's class.

An assignment for media's class. Something about scenery world/landscape... I don't know. I don't even remember what this project is even called.

All I know is that i told myself the project was like concept art. The criteria include the use of acrylic, acrylic texture mediums..etc. Painting for two days straight with only 2-3 hours of sleep. I am glad this is done despite how it did not came out what i expect it to be.

Progress on current assignments for Visual Method's class.
I'm doing the assignment on J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan.

From thumbnails to medium-size roughs to large grayscale final to final coloured copy.

I have not slept yet. Not too happy with my half-ass job on the bottom of the painting.
I hate the composition. I prefer my original composition but it was more preferable to have a composition that is flat/staged. [for upcoming diorama]

DIORAMA. I hate 3D craft... [have no patience or skill for crafts]

Two more large projects to work on that involves painting.
This term is heavily based on landscapes and scenes [narratives]. In which i very much enjoy, but the amount of time they gave us to work on these projects are ridiculously short.

Now my procrastination has led me to all-nighters.
I deserve a sleep for 3 hours.

I noticed for sure that my artwork has matured but compare to my early years my heart and passion had surely disappeared.

I am sad to admit that, but it is true. I don't often draw as much as i did before. I don't spend as much time on one piece of artwork as i did before.

-Sigh- Here are some oldies... this is dated back in 2008, dedicated to one of my favourite games, Metal Gear Solid.

First one is a little unclear because it is my personal habit.
I play games.

What i hate is that i play too long and my PS3 controller is low in batteries. I hate leaving my game paused. I am unable to assign the other controller without exiting the game...i did what i could do... Charge while playing...
Let's say the USB cable isn't as long as i hoped it to be.

Bermuda Triangle Project of Boringness

I had a rough week. My motivation was non-existent and I had a lot of trouble working on my assignments. This weekend, I got my act together and tried to catch up on some work. I finally finished my concept core assignment which was suppose to be due last Friday. However, i just couldn't get myself to start during that week until now.

"Bermuda Triangle Uncovered!"Wormhole" , acrylic, pencil crayon on illustration board.

The assignment was to focus on illustrating information. The theme was the Bermuda Triangle mystery and it is up to the students to research some theories and apply it into illustration.
I chose the Wormhole Theory. I got a bit too serious on the research, but it was not what the professor was looking for. She was uninterested in the theory [wasted 10 minutes blabbing about the theory to her] and she was focusing more on the appearance of the piece. I didn't get that message until a week later.
Compared to others, mine was too serious and it was not as fun to look at. [saw examples of others people's work and they were all too awesome and fun!]
I wish I made it a little more fun rather than making it look like a grade 7 science textbook illustration. :/

Midterm Still Life Painting... ARGH

My ghetto work area.

Close to midterm and once again and things are getting pretty hectic.
I am currently working on my Painting class' still life painting. For some reason I chose to do oil painting [with water soluble oil paints] in which I am not familiar with.

I bought a lot of paint tubes from awhile ago but did not have the confident to use them until recently.
Let me tell you this...

It is hard as *bleep* . SERIOUSLY. I can't work with the damn thing. It is hard to control and it gets muddy easily. Unlike acrylic paints, it has slower drying time and yet it is extremely ...i can't explain. Very thick and super blend-able?
I always complain how quick acrylic dries, which is why I bought oil paints to make up for that...but is MUCH MUCH more different. I tried looking up tutorials, however it didn't do much to solve my situation. Seems like trial and error. [Can't mess up too much because these paints are expensive T_T]
Not a good idea to use this media for midterm project especially when you are not familiar with it.

EDIT: "To place one layer of pigment on top of another, make sure the bottom one is very thin, just enough to tint that canvas. Then load your brush with thick oil paint to a butter consistency and allow it to roll off the brush without pushing down into the previous layer. That way the second layer will lie on top rather than mix with the second one. "

This week is starting to calm down. Projects are handed in and out of the way and Thanksgiving holiday is not too far! It is going to be a nice relaxing weekend. Dead Island marathon ftw + thanksgiving dinner. OOOHHH YEAHH!!

I am currently working on a project for core concept class.
We are focusing on decorative art that must include one or more of elements: earth, fire, air and water as a theme.

I chose earth because it seems simple enough. There seems to be a water element hidden somewhere too. :D

Staying in school past midnight to work on the project. Damn, we need to stop procrastinating.
We gave up at 1 am because we were getting hungry and delirious due to the lack of energy.

We have to get the b+w version and the coloured version done by Tuesday. So hopefully, I will post an update on this project soon.

HELLO!

Long time no see. It has already been the 2nd week [going to third soon] of school. I apologize for not updating since Canada Day. The summer has been long and agonizing; barely any artwork done, but a couple of pages of sketch has been achieved.

Not much of an accomplishment...eh? I'm pretty disappointed in myself.

Anyway, a couple of pics of my latest project/exercise completed for school. This one is for Concept Core [aka Conceptual Process 2].

We were given a proverb [randomized]. I got, “Christmas comes, but once a year.”

We were allowed to illustrate the proverb, metaphorically or literal sense. I did not want to make mine cheesy and cliched but i had the biggest brain fart of my life...I had one of the hardest proverb and so I messed up a lot during the rough process. Even my professor was stumped.

So we agreed to keep it cliched and corny. Heh.

Not too happy with the concept of it, but whatever. It is only the first project. I'll let it slide. Ha.

I need some advice taking picture of art works. I always have to do some heavy editing on the photo to get it a decent quality.

Another outfit. I need to actually work on real piece instead of doodling. Outfit from the other day to a bbq hangout. Noticed how my body is a couple tints lighter than my face. My face is getting darker. It is really noticeable of the contrast between my face and my body.

My parents left to Montreal for a week so i have been staying at home more often than before. Which also means that i have nothing to do but clean, play games and watch movies and ponder about my next art work. It is a bit depressing.

I've been meaning to paint, but i have not touch my room since my parents left. Well, I've been sleeping there but that is about it. My room is awfully cold. It's not giving me any motivation to work on something.

The weather has been crappy lately. Cold and wet. I am unable to take a ride with my bike and wonder around.

Well, the hard part of school is over. Exam and final projects are completed. I have one more class [Art History] tomorrow and FREEDOM at last!! I have already completed the final project for Art History so all i need to do is hand in the project and listen to the final lecture and head off for a sushi dinner tomorrow with friends. YIPPEEE!!!!!

I also received my essay from Psychology [the one i half-assed and handed incomplete] I was shocked of the mark i received. It was... higher...MUCH HIGHER than i expected.
Oddly a bit too high. I am not complaining.

To counter that, i have received a very low mark for my final conceptual process project. No surprised as i only worked on it for 15 min. -is ashamed-

Another stressful week at school. Staying in school more often to do digital work for computer studies. I swear, i have the WORST LUCK with computers.

Anyway, this zombie pic is part of a 12 picture calender for our Computer Studies class. It is the final project of the 1st year. We have the freedom to choose our own theme as long as it is approved by our professor.
It is tedious work. I am not a huge fan of digital, i rarely make a fully rendered piece. Not exactly excited... but it's zombies. <3

While i was saving my image into jpeg format, i made sure that i had the original .psd file. I WAS EXTREMELY CAREFUL not to messed up. Somehow, i managed to mess up. The image saved over my work process with a low quality flatten image. I do not know how it had happened. It could be the fact that it was in some kind of mode [adobe 1998?] But in the end i had to re-colour the picture again. Wasting another couple of hours. FML FML
The second image didn't have the same feeling as the first one. Never does.

Oh well.

I am the queen of procrastination. It is a terrible habit. Somewhat i always manage to get through without failing. One of the biggest project for psychology class is about to be half-ass. It is an 8-10 page essay. I, the queen of procrastination, decide to work on it one and a half days before the due date. FAJDLIASDJALSDIASJdASLdi. Earlier, i decided to work very hard till i get 60% of it done. I failed and managed to get 40% done. Later, i went to panic mode. Shortly after the panic, i went to my usual, "if i get this mark and do this to counter it...i will be fine." excuse.
In detail, if i just barely pass my essay and ace the test and exam...I will still get a passing mark. Good enough.
I give up easy, but as long as it does not have a terrible yet regretful consequences, i am up for it.
Tomorrow, i will do whatever i can for the essay even if its unorganized and unfinished, I'll hand it in before the due date.
I rather be stress-free and get an OK mark, than go in anxiety mode for an essay.
Just because I'm being lazy, doesn't mean you should be lazy too! I would be a terrible role model. ^_^;;;;;

Giant Life Drawing Dump

Hi. Well, decided to dump some of my life drawing works on here. Before, it was required to use craft paper with conte/chalk pastel and white chalk/conte. Focusing on tones as well as structure.

I was pretty happy about the portfolio as i was able to find a technique that help out with the structure of the body more accurately than before. Many influence came from my class mates, professors' tips and figure drawing books. It' is a bit more technical and has crapload of lines, geometric shapes, and analyzing but it works. Now i can't stop thinking about basic geometric shapes on organic things.

Definitely improved a lot since last post about life drawing. I wish i could show more of my works, some of my favourite drawings are missing. Will need to retrieve them asap.
We are now focusing on mixed media from life drawing. Interesting, but a bit frustrating to work with. Indian inks, sticks, acrylic, colour inks, and this neat little number:

A mouth atomizer [i think that is how you spell it].
Our professor gave us an inspiring lecture about different artists [including Gustav Klimt <3]
and demonstrated different techniques to use for our mixed media drawings.
Once he whipped out the atomizer, i was mindfudge. It's a little spray diffuser tool that gives a airbrush/spray effect. I bought the little thing right away after the lecture.
EXCITED.

I am enjoying the mixed media part of life drawing so far.

There i go again. A huge problem came up with the illustration's split program. Personal problems came up and it made my decision to go to Technical uneasy [i suppose that is how you would word it?].
Due to some personal problems, my mind is back to square one; deciding whether to go to Tech or Interp.

Interpretive= More convenient. Cheaper. Stay with love ones. Stick with something you do well.
Technical= Learn new techniques. A new path. Possibly better job opportunity available.

FUuuuuUuuUuu. Man! This is hard. Well, I will update my final decision on April. :|

Anyway, on the brighter side. I was able to get through this excruciating week! All projects/test is out of the way. Did extremely well on my projects and test as well! ^_~
Very happy. Now all the pressure is off. I can start on my essay. YAY.

But first! I will play some vidya games as my reward.

Flux-Frustration-Kit

Hi there again. Can you believe reading week isalmost over?!!?!!!?!?!?!?! ARGHHHHH.

I get to try German cuisine during my break though. I had German Sausage with potato and sauerkraut. I wish i had taken a picture of it, but i forgot my camera. It was DEEE-LISH.

Anyway, we are already the weekend till week 8 of school. [Is it week 8? I don't remember] That means projects are due, test, new assignments. -add sarcasm 'YAY'-

I've been TRYING to work on my flux-kit box for Conceptual Process. Seriously, this project is driving me insane. I'm terrible with interactive/crafty projects. I can't even do origami!!!

Hello!

It's the beginning of reading week! I wish it is all free time, but unfortunately our professor assigned us quite a few projects to work on during the week. BOOOO!!

I'm currently catching up on my reading for psychology. I already wrote a schedule to work on the assignments during the week. -sad-

Again, i am most concern with Conceptual process. Big project. The project is called the Flux kit. I would explain about the project, but I'm quite confuse about it right now. T_T

I have quite a fascination with oversize monsters and mythical gods. Especially the ones from Final Fantasy games. The design for each game is pure awesome. Well, accept for FFXI and above, i have not seen the summons yet. One of my favourite summon/aeon is Anima. She's not only bad-ass, but has such a deep background. It makes me sad a bit.

Hello there! Long time, yes?

Just an update about the current status of school.
In 2 more weeks, we hit mid point of 2nd term. SO FAST.

Assignments are starting to pile up, especially for life drawing class. Focus on more art and less gaming. -_- especially when i just found out how to hook up my consoles to my crap monitor. [this is a tough battle]. More distractions, yay!

Anyway, i think my number one concern is Conceptual Process [yet again]. AGAIN, it is about the sketchbook assignment. I was actually pumped to work on the 2nd term sketchbook assignment; got my tools, sketchbook ready and even had head start on it. Till our professor announced a whole new sketchbook assignment. MAKE YOUR OWN SKETCHBOOK W/ MIN. 100 PAGES. INCLUDING BINDING AND SHIZ... AJLDASIEJWLIJ FFFF--FF--ffff. -flips table-

Yeah, i didn't even start on it until 3 weeks later. Now we're closing in the mid-term checkup, and we are suppose to have approx. 40 pages done? I only got 10? BAAAW.

Slowly improving. Working on my line quality, weight, tones...etc. This time, on craft paper. I actually enjoy working on craft paper. -thumbs up-
I have to thank all my classmates. Learning from them, giving the drive to improve!

We are already on the 4th week of 2nd semester. GAHHHHH... time sure fly by fast. A little too fast.

Psychology test on Wed. I haven't even read over the notes!!

After a long discussion and contemplation, i decided to stick with the idea of going to Technical.
The tech illustration display of works was quite fascinating. Won my heart over.
I was able to work with my parents about living in Oakville for the most of the school time. [again] The idea of leaving my family/friends and love for awhile does scare me.

It will not be a pleasant time [especially with money], however i will work hard.

A status update on my schooling, my professor commented on how slow i work. [laughs]

WELL. One more day till 2nd term starts! HURRAH. I was feeling very bored and unproductive over the long winter break.

I am actually unhappy with my 2nd term schedule. [i don't know how many times i complained about this] Terrible Terrible. -sigh-

I had not check my email for awhile and recently i found out my local comic book store was selling MGS Foxhound Logo t-shirt. I was going apeshit! I went right to the comic store and found it they were sold out like hot cakes. Except this one t-shirt was reserved from this one Anon. Sitting behind the counter...waiting. The clerk told me that he may or may not pick it up but he has till Jan 19. If he does not pick it up by then, the shirt is mine. FFFFFFFFFFFFF-----
What sucks is that they cannot order of it because it was completely sold out from the warehouse. DAMN DAMN DAMN. Always check your email!!! I hope he doesn't pick it up.

Although i lost that battle for now, finally got my hands on "The Walking Dead" I <3 Zombies t-shirt. :3

Well! 1st term ended awhile ago. We are already ending the first out of 3 weeks of winter break.
That was quick! I actually have no clue what i have been doing during the holidays so far.

Aside from playing L4D and watching zombie movies. Hahaha.

I actually wanted to paint a family portrait, but i was short on time and i couldn't find any recent family photo for reference...plus i have a big family. Would probably take days to even finish.

I apologize for not updating lately. This month has been hectic! Only the first wave had passed by. Last week was insane. English Exam, major projects, English Essay, English PRESENTATION...etc.
I was having the most stressful week ever. [pretty sure it will be worse in the future]
The Composition and Rhetoric class [English], was the class that was killing me. It was unfortunate that we had to present on the week after exam as well as getting the first part of the final essay completed. It was a stressful night before the presentation day.

However, the presentation came out better than we expected. I believe we got our professor engaged into the presentation. Her reaction was priceless. ;P

Heading now to Week 12, 3 more weeks till the end of term 1. I know, so fast!!

MIND MAP-Conceptual Process
For week 7 & during reading week, our professor gave us a chunky project.
The good ol' mind map. I will not go into detail about mind map, but i will say everyone had to do a random draw. For what ever two items we got, we had to connect those two objects somehow by using the Mind Map method. I got the two item: phonographs and a doll. This must be done in a 30x40 inch [MINIMUM] paper.
I thought it was unlikely to match those two, however it was such a coincidence that Henri Lioret create Bébé Phonographe. A phonograph built in the doll. LUCKY.
Sunday, last day of reading week and i barely started on my project...
I moved my easel and literally trapped myself into a corner so that i force myself to get the project done within that night. It was hard to get out and get in the workspace.

FINALLY, i got it done. Actually, i think i over-killed it. However, got no complaints.

After a long class presentation, my friends and i left to go to Home Depot to snatch some paint swatches... Well, not some...I took a chunk. I LOVE FREEBIES. [laughs] I think i'm going to head back there for some more. This was for the Basic Design Project for this week. I will get into more details in the next post.

Welcome to my Sketchbook!

I'd like to show a bit of a sneak peek on my sketchbook for my class, Conceptual Process.
First off, I am seriously a lazy student. So within the two months, i only manage to get about 7-8 pages in my sketchbook. I am extremely disappointed in myself and i believe so was my professor.
First off the Cover [above], i actually got a lot of comments about the cover because it reminded people about grandmas. [laughs] I like pretty things so *BLEEP* off. [laughs]
I will be adding more items on the cover including straps, so hopefully i will get it done on time.

Couple pages in, I really hate the texture of the paper of the sketchbook, so i usually grab papers around and added in the sketchbooks.

Life drawing, again. We have a portfolio due next week for Life Drawing class.
I did noticed that i have improved, which is delightful. However, i crave to improve even more. There is anatomy project i have to work on too where we can take any gesture drawing and draw in a simplified skeleton that fits in that gesture figure. Of course it has to be accurate.

So, i went to the library and finally paid off my dreading overdue fees and rented out some anatomy books. Central Library, the largest library in my city and it only has about 4 anatomy books in their inventory. What a joke. I can't afford to buy any books right now. :(

Another sad news, BAA illustration course holds an Italy trip every year. It counts as a credit for the first/2nd years. I really wanted to go, however i had a budget.
My friend gave me the news about total cost of the trip...and let me say it is way above what i can afford.
5 grand.

All these are from life drawing. It seems like i have problems with the bottom half of the human anatomy. I use to draw loooong limbs and now i draw fat stumpy legs. [sigh] I have a lot of practice to do. I also hope to work on my line quality work. Need to stop using dark contour lines.

I'm so ghetto that i have to make my own light table. I found a piece of glass door from this furniture that broke off long ago. I can't really work any where else beside in my room or at school. Having no windows, this was my substitution light table [more like light wall]. I actually had an opportunity to purchase a mini light table back before for 10 bucks at the thrift store, however i thought it will probably be another item that will be dusting in my room [like my negative projector] so i put it back. Now i totally regret not buying that light table. [groaaaans]

Mondayss.... One class and it is in the afternoon. 2 1/2 hrs of presentation about Archetype & Visual symbols in Conceptional Process class.
I love Mondays. [sarcasm] Did a sketch of a random girl for my sketchbook assignment using my new 9B graphite pencil. HOW INTENSE. SO INTENSE that i broke the pencil in two because it was so soft.

Nancy: Bio-girl

So randomly i decided to work on a new original project called, Morning School. Just design of characters from school from different classes and possibly a story behind it.
My first victim is a girl named, Nancy: the bio-girl. She loves biology and nature. Has a secret crush on Jake: the chemistry-boy.
She's dorky, shy but cunning. That is all i got so far. I have to jot these points down before i forget. Now i will start designing Jake.
Hopefully i this will be my long-term project as i tend to put things unfinished. [cough] all original manga from highschool [cough]

well, it has already been the end of week 3 of school. Illustration, to be specific. I have to say, I am pretty stressed out already.

I think it is mainly from all the money i used in the past 3 weeks for art supplies. I just spent $20.00 on new 12 set of conte today. WHY SO EXPENSIIIVE?

I have been going to extra life drawing after classes to improve my drawing skills. 3-4 times a week. I feel very satisfied after a long day i actually have not been this motivated in a long time.

Driving 30-1 hr every day, bi-weekly. Drinking coffee from Tim Horton's every day. Bad eating habits and complain how much i hate Basic Design class and its squeaky door. Coming home super cranky and aggravated as I try to work on my project. Stay up real late. Oh college life.

Did i mention how i detest Basic Design Class? Ha ha ha. I'm not the type who has the patience and preciseness when it comes to art. No matter how much i get frustrated with that class, i hope that it will discipline me by the end of the semester.

Right now, i am just getting myself off of school work and work on something for fun. I haven't touch any digital cging for awhile so heading to painttool SAI.

Dream came true

I came back from Fanexpo yesterday. Ignoring my previous entry, there was a big misunderstanding. Even the people who attended the Q&A had the same misunderstandings. Thanks to my friends who asked the staff in charge of the autograph session cleared up everything for me.
Autograph session was still on, but those who attended the Q&A will have priority to get their autographs. Those who won the raffle will get their autograph first in line.
I was so happy!!
We did not win the raffle, but we did end up running to the autograph session. We made it! Got our autographs, took pictures...and the mission was complete.

He was so kind to sign two items per person. I wasn't aware of that until last min and i only brought one item so i ask my friend to rush over to get the 4th volume of the Vampire Hunter D novel. :3 Which i must thank him.

It was a long excruciating day, it was all worth it!

Well, approx. 9 more hrs until Fanexpo opens. I am anticipating to see Yoshitaka Amano and get his autograph until i saw this:

ARE YOU F-ing kidding me?!?! LOTTERY TICKETS TO ATTAIN HIS AUTOGRAPH??
I'm so sad right now. There is a high chance of coming home without his autograph. Many people are anticipating this, and many will come home disappointed especially for those who did not purchase a deluxe pass. ARGHH I am so disappointed ...unless i am reading that paragraph wrong. I hope i am. But i highly doubt it. I hope Lady Luck is on my side tomorrow [though i am very unlucky person] Fanexpo, you are a sneaky little snake. SRSLY.
The schedule indicated that that the autograph session is still at 6 pm...but it has not been updates since Aug 14...[crosses fingers]

I was not too happy about the piece i did on the last WIP. Something about it was really stiff and too uniformed. So i decided to scrap that and start another one with the same theme. This is going to be a gift for a special someone, but he left to his home country and will not be back until next month. So i will get it done by then.

This one is more rough but i like the flow.
And it is in colour! ha ha. Time to put my iridescent gold paint in use. Heavily influence by Klimt and Amano's style.

I've been dying for these books. Aside from the Collected Art of Vampire Hunter D, i went ahead and order his other books. 'Fairies', "Worlds of Amano" and "Gustav Klimt: Art Nouveau Vision" book.
I have never felt a rush of inspiration like this before. These two are my favourite artists! I remember I couldn't afford these books and it has been eating my insides. I remember borrowing Gustav Klimt's book from the library for more than 6 months. 2 months i actually sign the book in, the rest of the time...it was overdue. HAHA HA HA. I now currently owe the library $60.00 for the overdue books. [which i apologize for hogging it. I was such a hassle to come downtown to renew it] I will pay it back after I receive my pay.

After looking at the Amano's "Fairies" cover while in the middle of ordering, it has a very similar style to Gustav Klimt. I can clearly see the influence in his works from Klimt. Possibly that kind of paintings attracts me. Come to think of it, i actually do not remember how i came to know about the artworks of Yoshitaka Amano. [tries to remember]

I ordered one more book, "Amano: The complete prints of Yoshitaka Amano" I couldn't find any new one, so I ordered a used one for cheap. It seems pretty rare.
I pretty much used up my spending money for this year. [laughs]
But it is definitely worth it.

Speaking of Yoshitaka Amano, I didn't know the exact date when he would be coming to visit Fanexpo, so I emailed Fanexpo employees for some clarification. They said he will not be coming for all 3 days and it will most likely be on SATURDAY that he'll be there.
Anyone who is coming to Fanexpo, make sure to come on SAT.
However, the person seems only about 80% sure about that. Anything could happen.
Hopefully it is on SAT because that is the perfect date and i will pack up my camping gear to get closest spot. [laughs] It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, i have to aggressive. :3

Sorry everyone who is reading this fangirling post. I am just really excited and really tired from work. Thank you mommy for letting me have the day off tomorrow. I need to get a lot of things done tomorrow.

I am having a dilemma with my art. Actually its a never ending battle. I cannot find my own style. I jump from one another. I honestly would like to keep one consistent style , but if you think about it, it is kind of boring. I remember a picture i did on Facebook Grafitti. It was a very uhh ..it was a manga style [i guess what how you say it] but with a darker touch. Dolly mostly. I always thought that style was very beautiful but somehow i shifted into a more...generic style recently. I decided to go back to the style...but with more of my recent touch. EMOTIONLESS FACIAL EXPRESSION FTW.
A lot of the figure in my work has emotionless expression. It is not like i don't know how to draw it, but i just like drawing that one expression. One expression with something distracting on the side. I guess that is my style. HAHAHAHA
Man, i need to draw more. Still life, figure drawing...etc. Less digital work more traditional.

Geez, artblog. Artblog... photography ... how can i forget? I am lacking some new materials at the moment. So enjoy some photographs.

I love photography, however i am more of point-and-shoot type. Capturing that very moment and time. I wish i could do more serious work of photography, but lack of tools and materials kind of puts my motivation down the drain. Art is sure an expensive hobby.

Work tomorrow. Waking up at 5 am. Lately i have been sleeping at 5 am. Not good. Got to fix my sleeping habits. I have to find some shelves for my room. The items in my room are increasing and i am running out of space. So i will head to the thrift store today to see if they have any nice wooden shelves to put my art supplies and books on.

Watching Bas Rutten's videos of his old matches.... THIS MAN WAS THE BEASTTTTT.

Well, i am working on a piece that hopefully would be a present for a special someone...until i made a mistake...and kept making mistakes...and now i am unhappy.

I am working with India ink. Inspired by Yoshitaka Amano and Takato Yamamoto.
I screwed up a lot since i barely use India ink. I should be using it more often.

While waiting for my ink to dry, i decided to erase the pencil marks and as i did that, i brushed the paper with my hands, forgetting the wet ink and smeared across the girl's face.
ARGHHHHHH...
I tried scraping the thin layer of smear with a scalpel. Which works alright minus the inconsistent texture to the paper. I did more mistakes...by deciding to cover it up with strands of hair... MADE IT WORSE, scalpel again...... arghh..
Now i am furious. ha ha.

Look what i got!!

WAHHHHHH!! I will stare at this book intently every night before i sleep. If i do no get any other art book before Fanexpo, i might get this signed by the man himself...hopefully there is no cancellation...and hopefully there is an autograph session. I can't wait...

[excuse the messy workspace]

I have received my new lappy on Monday. I spent days just customizing and getting use to it. The touchpad is ultra sensitive, even the slightest touch can relocate my typing. It is hard to get use to. Window 7 was a bitch to getting use to. All of my programs i loved are outdated and most are not compatible with window 7. Took forever to find my way around it. However, in the end, i loved the laptop overall. It is fast and i do not have to worry about lagging.
More work to get done!
You must be thinking, [3 monitors, you rich bitch]. Let me explain, i am very lucky that i got my old laptop, external monitor as hand-me-downs. ha ha.

Well, it seems like I'm about to get out of my long art block. I'm starting to get back on track. My imagination is starting to run wild right now. I certainly do not know where to start.
I realized that i wanted to have my art known as very shocking. Tastefully shocking. It can be very gory yet beautiful at the same time.
I guess i just want to show how ugly things has beauty. How every single thing on earth is beautiful. From garbage, poo, cuts, bloods, intestines, flies...etc.
When i view even the most disgusting things like, [tapeworm, caterpillars, leech [my phobia]] they can be beautiful at certain points when i think about it. If only i can overcome my fear of them.

Hopefully i can extend my art more into portraying that message. I just need to get out of my comfort zone and explore.

No work for now, they don't need me. [:(
Have to wait for my next shift...which is ...no clue.

Testing on some new CGing techniques.

Man, i hate my laptop. I will certainly destroy this device! At first, it works fine and now since I am more in demand of different features of the laptop, it is starting to get frustrating. CGing is becoming more and more impossible with this laptop.
I like listening to something while i draw, while that could be music, TV, people talking...etc. It keeps my mind free from over thinking [it's because i talk a lot with myself]. It become impossible to multitask on my laptop. I can't even open Firefox browser without lagging like crazy.

Well, i saved up for a new laptop. Check out this baby:

WAHHHH.... You probably never even heard of MSI.
I did too until i checked it up and some reviews. I heard it is a decent machine. Strong and meets your needs. I [minus the battery life, but not an issue to me]. It's new brand to the North America market.
It was on a clearance sale at Futureshop.
With the money i saved, i decided to get it.
I know, you probably be thinking, "MAC MAC MAC"
Guess what? I can't afford it and I'm not ready to adapt to the new OS.
I can't wait for this baby to arrive. I can finally open two programs without lagging!!
